Derechos de los residentes
Los residentes de hogares de ancianos tienen ciertos derechos y protecciones bajo la ley. El asilo de ancianos debe enumerar y dar a todos los nuevos residentes una copia de estos derechos.
Estos derechos de los residentes incluyen, pero no se limitan a:
El derecho a ser tratado con dignidad y respeto.
El derecho a ser informado por escrito sobre los servicios y tarifas antes de ingresar al asilo de ancianos.
El derecho de administrar su propio dinero o de elegir a alguien de su confianza para que lo haga por usted.
El derecho a la privacidad, y a conservar y utilizar sus pertenencias personales y bienes, siempre que no interfieran con los derechos, la salud o la seguridad de los demás.
El derecho a ser informado sobre su condición médica, medicamentos y a ver a su propio médico. También tiene derecho a rechazar medicamentos y tratamientos.
El derecho a tener una opción sobre su horario (por ejemplo, cuando se levanta y se va a dormir), sus actividades y otras preferencias que son importantes para usted.
El derecho a un entorno más como un hogar que maximice su comodidad y le brinde asistencia para ser lo más independiente posible.
 
Residents’ Rights
Nursing home residents have certain rights and protections under the law. The nursing home must list and give all new residents a copy of these rights.
These resident rights include, but aren’t limited to:
The right to be treated with dignity and respect.
The right to be informed in writing about services and fees before you enter the nursing home.
The right to manage your own money or to choose someone else you trust to do this for you.
The right to privacy, and to keep and use your personal belongings and property as long as it doesn’t interfere with the rights, health, or safety of others.
The right to be informed about your medical condition, medications, and to see your own doctor. You also have the right to refuse medications and treatments.
The right to have a choice over your schedule (for example, when you get up and go to sleep), your activities and other preferences that are important to you.
The right to an environment more like a home that maximizes your comfort and provides you with assistance to be as independent as possible.
